Biography
Aliza M. Olive, MD, is a pediatric critical care physician at Cleveland Clinic. She has been in practice since 2021 and specializes in the care of critically ill children with liver failure, transplant complications, hematologic and oncologic emergencies, and ethically complex medical situations. Her clinical focus also includes extracorporeal support and palliative medicine. Dr. Olive earned her medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. She completed her pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, followed by a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Children’s Mercy Hospital.

Dr. Olive is actively involved in ethics and communication research, with published work on decision regret, clinician nudging, and end-of-life care in the pediatric ICU. She was awarded the Section of Critical Care Best Poster Award at the American Academy of Pediatrics Conference during training for her work on nudging. She is the principal investigator on a Cleveland Clinic-funded project studying parental decision making in single ventricle heart disease and is developing an AI-based simulator to train fellows in difficult conversations.

She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.
