About Amani Fawzi

Biography

Dr. Fawzi is a vitreoretinal surgeon and clinician-scientist, the Director of Ocular Research in Oculomics at the Cole Eye Institute, Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Fawzi’s clinical expertise spans complex diabetic surgeries, macular degeneration and advanced technology in retinal imaging. Her research expertise spans the fields of human retinal imaging, mouse models of retinal disease, multi-omics and diabetic retinopathy. She is an Editorial Board Member of IOVS, a Gold Fellow and Retina Trustee of ARVO and President of the International Ocular Circulation Society. She has authored over 200 peer reviewed articles, is a frequent invited speaker at National and International meetings, and her research is funded by the NIH and the industry.

 

Recognized for her imaging research, Dr. Fawzi is an elected member of the American Society of Clinical Investigations and has received many honors and award including the Honor Award of the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Young Investigator Award and W. Richard Green Award of the Macula Society, the Secretariat, and Senior Achievement Awards of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
