I was seen by a Fellow first and he was polite and seemed thorough. He listened and gave his opinions. When the doctor came in, she seemed much more interested in teaching him, than treating me. I felt like her first priority was to make sure that he was doing the proper exam and such. It was all very standard. However, I came to Cleveland Clinic from an hour and a half away to be seen by a specialist who is supposed to be the premier authority on the subject I wanted to be seen about. I felt like she assumed I was a very normal case, and this is because I was not able to provide her with the complex and long history that led me to her in the first place. Talking to me and addressing my concerns felt very much like the secondary purpose. She ordered tests and gave me options which I felt were very helpful, but overall it seemed like a teaching session, not a medical appointment.

Dr. Amy Kunchok and her assistant were very approachable, patient and reassuring. Both of them took their time to listen, were detailed-oriented and provided clear explanations when I asked questions relative to my health concerns. Dr. Kunchok explained the current hypothesis, demonstrated a meticulous approach to gather and analyze additional data by ordering more test for further diagnostics, and explained the risks associated with an incorrect diagnosis. She is a genuine specialist and I felt a deep sense of trust with her, as opposed to being rush through a standard checklist. I am so appreciative of her expertise, and the empathy, care and attention that she and her assistant provided.
