Biography
Dr. Bhama’s clinical practice focuses on colon and rectal cancer, IBD,& diverticulitis, complex reoperative colorectal surgery and advanced robotic techniques. Her interests are enterocutaneous fistulas, chronic anastomotic complications, complex ostomy reversals and complex reoperative operations for IBD and recurrent colorectal cancer. She has extensive experience in robotics for colorectal surgery, specifically advanced robotics in patients who have had prior abdominal surgery.
Dr. Bhama is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and at Case Western Reserve University. She is a staff surgeon in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus in Cleveland, Ohio. She serves as the Patient Experience Officer for the Digestive Disease Institute. Prior to joining the staff at Cleveland Clinic, she practiced at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. There, she served as the Director of Robotic Colorectal Surgery, the Director of the Rush Program for Complex Reoperative Colorectal Surgery and the Director of Education for Colorectal Surgery.
She attended University of Michigan for her undergraduate degree and The Ohio State University for her medical degree. She completed training in general surgery at University of Iowa and completed a research fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She completed her colon and rectal surgery training in Ann Arbor at St. Joseph Mercy and the University of Michigan, with additional training in complex minimally invasive and reoperative colorectal surgery at Cleveland Clinic. She is board-certified in general surgery and colon and rectal surgery.
Dr. Bhama's research focus is on the effectiveness of minimally invasive robotic surgery and surgical education.

Dr Bhama is a superhero. I was very concerned that I would not survive this surgery - I was severely weakened and the other members of the Colorectal team did not offer a good prognosis. Dr Bhama inspired confidence and gave me hope. The results of the surgery were even better than her prognosis. I would recommend Dr Bhama to anyone who is in need of colorectal surgery.

While I have enjoyed exceptional care from various doctors at Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Bhama is the best of the best. She is attentive, personable, plain spoken, and is thorough in sharing information. She takes great care to engage the patient in the process. I can't begin to share how comforting this can be! I would be remiss if I didn't mention her skill. I am beyond impressed...and am so, so thankful!

My care giver gives me great care! My care giver cares! And I care about my care giver too! We are friends. I will miss my caregiver after all of this comes to our desired conclusion. And at this point, I feel great from my caregivers efforts. Dr. Bhama is my hero!

Dr. Bhama was exceptional in every aspect. My condition had come as a surprise and I had so many questions and a lot of anxiety. She was so incredibly attentive and addressed all of my questions and followed up to ensure I understood or had any additional concerns.
