Aravinda Nanjundappa, MBBS, MD

Dr. Nanjundappa is an interventional cardiologist in the Invasive & Interventional Cardiology Section of the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. 

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease. He is also certified in vascular and endovascular medicine by the American Board of Vascular Medicine.

Education and Training: Dr. Nanjundappa earned his medical degree at the Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences in India. He completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at hospitals affiliated with Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ, followed by an interventional cardiology fellowship at University of South Florida Health Science Center Jacksonville. He completed his medical training with an interventional peripheral vascular fellowship at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. He then completed an MBA at West Virginia University, Morgantown. Dr. Nanjundappa joined the Cleveland Clinic staff in 2022. Previously, he was Professor of Surgery and Medicine at the Robert C. Byrd Health Science Center, West Virginia University, Charleston Division.

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Nanjundappa is an active researcher and has been Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator for more than 35 clinical research trials, including Medtronic’s Symplicity Spyral renal denervation (RDN) system. He has delivered invited lectures at more than 100 local, national, and international conferences and has presented abstracts at more than a dozen symposia. In addition, he has authored more than 125 publications including peer-reviewed articles, invited publications, and editorials, as well as more than 15 book chapters.

Dedicated to post-graduate medical education, Dr. Nanjundappa has served as Course Co-Director or Co-Chairman for meetings including Cardiovascular Research Technologies (CRT), Mastering cardiovascular complications New Cardiovascular Horizons (NCVH), and Complex Cardiovascular Catheter Therapeutics (C3).

Dr. Nanjudappa is an Associate Editor of Interventional Cardiology and serves on the Editorial Board and as a reviewer for Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiology, the Journal of Invasive Cardiology, and Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine.

Dr. Nanjundappa is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Angiography & Interventions, the International College of Angiology, and the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians. He is also a member of the American Heart Association, the Society for Vascular Medicine, the Association of Black Cardiologists, the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, the Grenada Medical and Dental Council, and Doctors of the World.
