Brian Simmons, MD, FACP, FACC, FCCP, is a diagnostic and invasive cardiologist in the Section of Regional Cardiovascular Medicine in the Tomsich Family Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of the Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients at Mercy Hospital, Canton.

Experience: Dr. Simmons has more than 30 years’ experience in all aspects of diagnostic and invasive cardiology. He annually performs more than 500 echocardiograms and stress tests and more than 300 heart catheterizations and implants more than 100 pacemakers.

Education: Dr. Simmons is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, Madison, Wis. He completed his internal medicine residency at Mt Sinai Hospital, Milwaukee, followed by a fellowship in cardiology at Cook County Hospital, Chicago.
Dr. Simmons was named to the Mercy Hospital medical staff in 1992.
Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Simmons has been an investigator on multiple National Heart, Lung and Blood, Institute-funded clinical studies on heart disease, particularly in Black patients. He has coauthored nearly two dozen papers related to heart disease, many of them specific to Black men, published in leading medical journals. He also has been a guest on national and local television and radio programs to discuss heart health in Black American men.

Dr Simmons was excellant as expected. He was very frank in communicating with me and not a rush job. I not only felt truly cared for but I understood our discussions regarding medications currently taking, but emphasizes on important signs and symptoms to pay attention too. He was very thorough.

Hey. Dr. Simmons is completely honest. He gave me something to think about. He told me my hemoglobin problem was likely the cause of the rest of most of my complaints. I've been thinking about that and I believe he is correct. Now it's up to me to figure out how I want to live.
