Christopher Smith, MD, FACS, is a staff physician in the Department of Vascular Surgery, Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients and performs surgery at Fairview and Avon hospital.

Specialty Interests: Open and endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease, percutaneous intervention for lower extremity arterial disease and lower extremity arterial bypass, hemodialysis access

Experience: Dr. Smith has been in clinical practice for more than 20 years. He has specialized expertise in catheter-based management and surgical bypass techniques for lower extremity arterial disease.

Education: Dr. Smith is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston. He completed general surgery and urology residencies at University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, and his vascular surgery fellowship at University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Prior to joining the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2025, Dr. Smith was chief, Division of Vascular Surgery, University Hospitals St. John Medical Center, Westlake, Ohio, and director of vascular services, Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute Western Region, University Hospitals Health System, Cleveland. 

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Smith has coauthored scientific papers published in leading vascular surgery journals and several surgery textbook chapters. He has made numerous presentations at local, state and regional medical conferences, speaking on the latest advances in peripheral vascular disease and abdominal aortic aneurysm.
