Biography
Dana R. Sands, MD, FACS, FASCRS, is a Staff Surgeon in the Department of Colorectal Surgery and Director of the Colorectal Physiology Center at Cleveland Clinic Florida Weston, where she was appointed in 2002. Her specialty interests include benign anorectal diseases, fecal incontinence, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, pelvic floor dysfunction and transanal endoscopic microsurgery. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
After attaining her BS in biology from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., Dr. Sands earned her medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1996. She completed her general surgery residency at University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla., followed by a colorectal surgery fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida Weston. Dr. Sands is licensed to practice in the state of Florida.
She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, the Broward County Medical Association and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Sands writes numerous papers, book chapters and abstracts in her field and presents at major medical meetings and symposia.

I could not be more happy about the overall quality of care I received during my procedure.The registration area, nurses, anesthesiologists and doctors were professional and worked together in unison perfectly. The care they all provide is above reproach. I would definitely recommend Cleveland Clinic Weston to anyone.

Dr. Dana Sands is the most professional and compassionate doctor I have had. She introduces me to her team and what their position is. She has such a kindness toward her patients. She takes the time to speak with me before the procedure and asks me pertinent questions about my knowledge of the procedure I''m about to have. I have been blessed to have her as my doctor for the many years that I have been coming to Cleveland Clinic for this annual procedure. I know that I am in good hands and that she will take care of me.Dr. Sands team is wonderful, too. Erica was the nurse in the room and Michael and Christian were the anesthesiologists. Christian did a great job at keeping me calm by talking with me before giving me the anesthesia.

Very efficient, I was very pleased with my appointment. Dr. Sands was very professional and and explained everything in detail. I was referred to her by my brother in law , who is a urologist in Trinidad and Tobago ( Dr. Lester Goetz ) .
