Biography
Dr. Cass serves as Director of Fetal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic, a program he founded beginning in 2018. Dr. Cass is one of few surgeons in the world who has performed successful fetal surgery for life-threatening fetal malformations including pericardial teratoma, giant fetal lung malformations (CCAM, CPAM), and sacrococcygeal teratoma. He is formerfaculty in the Departments of Surgery, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he was Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Texas Children's Fetal Center.Dr. Cass is a pediatric general and thoracic surgeon with particular expertise in fetal treatments and the surgical care and management of congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), congenital lung malformations (CCAM, CPAM, sequestration), esophageal atresia, ECMO, omphalocele, chest wall deformities (i.e. pectus excavatum), minimally invasive surgery, newborn surgical conditions, and ovarian disorders. Dr. Cass is a former NIH-funded research investigator for study of scarless fetal tissue repair and fetal vascular wall healing.
