About David Harris

Biography

David Harris, MD is a Palliative Medicine physician at Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus in Cleveland, Ohio.  He is board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and specializes in palliative oncology and in providing palliative medicine to hospitalized or critically ill patients.  He finds meaning in his work when he is able to relieve suffering (physical and non-physical) that his patients experience from serious illness.

Dr. Harris is a medical educator, focusing on teaching clinicians how to better communicate with their patients.  He is an assistant professor at the Cleveland Clinic Learner College of Medicine and serves as the Associate Program Director for the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program.

Dr. Harris earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and then completed his Internal Medicine residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.  He completed a Palliative Medicine fellowship here at Cleveland Clinic.

Outside of work David spends as much time as possible with his wonderful wife Julia and their pet dog, Goji.  He enjoys reading and writing poetry and is trying (unsuccessfully) to learn how to garden.
