Biography
Dr. David Peter is board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, in addition to Emergency Medicine. Before serving as the Chief Medical Officer at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Dr. Peter held the same position at Cleveland Clinic Akron General. In addition to CMO responsibilities, he is currently the Documentation Excellence Executive Physician Champion for CC Florida and a Medical Director for Mergers and Acquisitions Informatics.
Dr. Peter received his medical degree and residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati, a top-ranked program and the first Emergency Medicine program in the United States. He completed his MBA through the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Isenberg School of Management.
Prior experience includes Chief Medical Information Officer, Care Management, Medical Operations, and Revenue Cycle. He has over 30 years of experience in leadership, including documentation and coding and has led successful Clinical Documentation Integrity and Coding teams. Dr. Peter has authored many journal articles, book chapters and abstracts, in addition to actively participating on several community boards.
