Biography
Deena Hossino, MD, is a breast surgical oncologist who joined Cleveland Clinic in 2025. She specializes exclusively in breast surgery, with a focus on delivering oncologically sound care while optimizing cosmetic and quality-of-life outcomes through advanced oncoplastic techniques. She is board certified in general surgery.
Dr. Hossino completed her undergraduate studies at American University and received her medical degree from the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University. She completed her general surgery residency at West Virginia University/ Charleston Area Medical Center, followed by a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the University of Southern California and an Advanced Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellowship at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. During her training, she worked closely under the mentorship of Dr. Melvin Silverstein, a pioneer in oncoplastic breast surgery whose work has been instrumental in advancing modern breast-conserving surgery. While a fellow at the University of Southern California, Dr. Hossino was awarded the Muzzy Family Endowed Fellow in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, an honor given to one fellow per year who exemplifies excellence in oncoplastic breast surgery.
She has extensive experience in advanced oncoplastic breast surgery, including performing her own oncoplastic breast reductions as well as volume replacement techniques using local perforator flaps such as LICAP (lateral intercostal artery perforator) and AICAP (anterior intercostal artery perforator) flaps. This expertise allows her to offer breast conservation to patients who might otherwise require mastectomy, including those with larger tumors or challenging tumor locations.
