Dilip Patel, MD, FACC, is a staff cardiologist in the Section of Regional Cardiovascular Medicine of The Tomsich Family Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients at Mercy Hospital.

Over the course of his career Dr. Patel has performed more than 1000 coronary artery interventions.

He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, critical care medicine, adult echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Patel is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Education: Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad, India, and completed an internal medicine residency at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, also in Ahmedabad, where he was senior registrar in his final year pf training.

Dr. Patel relocated to the United States to accept an internal medicine residency at Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, an affiliate of Cornell University Medical College, New York, followed by a cardiology fellowship at Elmhurst Hospital, an affiliate of Mount Sinai (now Icahn) School of Medicine, Elmhurst, N.Y., where he was chief cardiology fellow in his final year. He received his subspecialty training in interventional cardiology at Ascension St. John Hospital, Detroit, and additional specialty training through a critical care medicine fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Bronx, N.Y.

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Patel has been an investigator on clinical trials related to drug treatment for chronic heart failure, pulmonary embolism and restoring arterial blood flow after acute myocardial infarction (MI) and interventional treatment for atherosclerosis to prevent MI.
