Biography
Dina Sparano, MD, is a cardiac electrophysiologist in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. She specializes in management of heart rhythm disorders. Dr. Sparano sees patients at the Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Medical Building in Mayfield Heights.

Education: Dr. Sparano earned her medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of Rutgers University, Piscataway, NJ. She completed her residency at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She was named to the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2019.
Experience and Outcomes: In 2017, Cleveland Clinic electrophysiologists performed 1655 ablation procedures, including 960 ablations for atrial fibrillation. Research, Speaking and Publications: Dr. Sparano has participated in research studies related to pacing and implantable cardiac devices and leads and has co-authored more than a dozen scientific papers and abstracts published in professional journals. She also has authored chapters in professional cardiology reference manuals. She has presented research at scientific sessions of the Heart Rhythm Society, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and American College of Echocardiology. Dr. Sparano also is a frequent speaker on heart disease and heart rhythm disorders for professional audiences and on women and heart disease at community events.
About Dr. Sparano: Dr. Sparano was born and raised in the Cleveland area. After completing her training, she is very happy to be back in Cleveland with her entire extended family. Her husband is also on staff at Cleveland Clinic. They live on Cleveland’s east side with their two daughters and family dog. They enjoy spending time at home and outdoors, attending Browns’ games, and participating in Cleveland’s vibrant cultural scene.
Leisure Activities: In her leisure time Dr. Sparano enjoys skiing, travel, attending live theater performances, wine-tasting and spending time with family.
