Biography
Emad Dean Nukta MD, is staff Interventional Cardiologist at Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine.. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, interventional cardiology, and endovascular medicine. . As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Nukta has a special interest in complex coronary, as well as carotid and peripheral interventions.
A native of Syria, Dr. Nukta received his medical degree from Damascus University. He spent the last two years of his medical school in rotating internship at Queen University of Belfast, University of Glasgow, and University of Birmingham (UK). He completed his residency in internal medicine at Lutheran Medical Center. He went to Dayton to complete his fellowship in Cardiology at Wright State University, Dayton Ohio. He finished his Interventional cardiology training at University of Geneva (Switzerland) under Dr. Bernhard Meier (The pioneer of angioplasty procedure). He was in private practice of interventional cardiology on the Westside of Cleveland since 1990. He is considered a large volume operator of interventional complex, high risk cases, in cardiac and peripheral procedures, on the Westside of Cleveland. He introduced and pioneered several of the new innovative procedures, and drugs to Fairview Hospital. He was the Director of Interventional Cardiology at Fairview Hospital, and Cleveland Cardiovascular Research Foundation.
He was appointed to Cleveland Clinic in 2014 as a staff interventional cardiologist.
Dr. Nukta has been involved as principal investigator or co-investigator in numerous clinical trials related to new devices, stents and drugs for interventional cardiology, including carotid stenting. Several of these drugs and devices are currently used in this field. He has been invited to present results of his research at national symposia and conferences.
He is author and co-author of more than 20 articles and abstracts in the field of his research. Dr. Nukta is Fellow of the American College of Physicians, American College of Cardiology, Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention, and Society of endovascular Medicine.
