Biography
Dr. Vargo is a board-certified urologist practicing within the Southern region of the Glickman Urological Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He is primarily based at the Akron/Canton locations.
He completed his residency at Cleveland Clinic Akron General in Akron, Ohio and went on to complete a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery (robotics) and Endourology at Washington University in St. Louis. Following fellowship, Dr. Vargo stayed on as an Assistant Professor at WASHU for 2 years before returning home to Northeast Ohio.
Dr. Vargo is committed to advancing treatment in the fields of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), stone disease, and robotic surgery for kidney/prostate oncology. He takes great pride in going the extra mile for each patient and strives to provide first-class, personalized care.
During fellowship, Dr. Vargo was able to learn a state-of-the-art procedure for treatment of benign enlargement of the prostate – Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP). Additionally, he was able to acquire the skills involved in performing an advanced technique for nerve preservation during robotic prostate removal for prostate cancer as highlighted in a publication within the Journal of Endourology.
Outside of work, you can find him, his wife Lauren, and their dog Georgie doing anything outdoors – running, hiking, fishing, golfing, and traveling.
