Biography
Firas Saker, M.D is a staff member at the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital; division of Neonatology at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and the medical director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hillcrest Hospital. In addition, Dr. Saker is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Cleveland Clinic Learner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Saker is double board certified in both pediatrics and neonatal/perinatal medicine. He earned his medical degree from Damascus University School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria. His post-graduate training includes a pediatric residency at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in El Paso, Texas, and a neonatal/perinatal fellowship at Case Western Reserve University and Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

Professional Highlights
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Saker is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, section of perinatal medicine. Dr. Saker chairs on several committees at Cleveland Clinic Children’s including the NICU Pharmacy & Therapeutic committee, the Neonatal Enterprise Quality committee, Hillcrest NICU operation, performance improvement and code pink committees; in addition to serving on several other committees such as the Cleveland Clinic Children's Quality Council committee. Among others.

- An established clinical researcher, Dr. Saker has secured a number of grants for his work and has published multiple research articles in peer-reviewed journals, as well as having contributed abstracts and presentations at a number of professional association meetings.
- Dr. Saker was recently awarded a postgraduate medical certificate in Safety, Quality, Informatics, and Leadership (SQUIL) from Harvard Medical School (2024-2025).
- Dr.Saker serves as the chair for Safety, Quality and Patient Experience (SQPE) for neonatal care at the neonatal intensive care units and delivery room services across Cleveland Clinic enterprise.
Awards
Dr. Saker has received a number of awards and recognitions. Most recently he was selected by his colleagues to be included in the Best Doctor's list in America for the last 10 years in a raw; he also received a Lifetime Service Award from the Syrian American Medical Society. The Nightingale Physician Collaboration Award from the Cleveland Clinic Institute of Nursing and the FDR March of Dime community award
