Biography
Dr. Florez is a board-certified Orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty certification in Surgery of the Hand, whose clinical expertise spans the full spectrum of shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand disorders. He is an active Fellow of the american Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a dedicated member of both the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Association for Hand Surgery.
A strong advocate for surgical education and mentorship, Dr. Florez has demonstrated leadership throughout his training and career. he served as Academic Chief Resident during his orthopaedic residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center and completed a prestigious Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center under Drs. Joseph Imbriglia and Mark Baratz. During fellowship, he was selected for the American Orthopaedic Association's Emerging Leaders Program-recognition of his leadership potential in academic orthopaedics.
Dr. Florez completed his bachlelor's degree at the College of William and Mary in historic Williamsburg, VA. Then Dr. Florez earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he was honored as the "Medical Student with the Best Clinical Performance" in his graduating class. His passion for clinical excellence, academic mentorship, and multidisciplinary collaboration make him a talented orthpaedic surgeon, with a vision to train the next generation of thoughtful, skilled, and compassionate orthopaedic surgeons.
Dr. Florez is a nationally recognized orthopaedic surgeon and educator, named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in Orthopaedic Surgery (2021-2026) and honored as a Top Hispanic & Latino Doctor (2023-2026). A passionate mentor and leader in orthopaedic education, he serves as Clinical Assistant Professor and Course Director for Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery at Florida State University College of Medicine-Fort Pierce Campus. He also directs Latin American Education and Outreach at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health, where he trains students and physician assistants and oversees the LATAM Ortho CCF observership, a selective mentorship programs for Latin American orthopaedic residents.
Dr. Florez regularly lectures at national conferences and has precepted students from leading institutions including University of Florida, University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, Georgetown School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Lake Erie College of Medicine, and West Virginia University School of Medicine. Deeply committed to community engagement, he frequently lectures on youth sports safety and volunteers as a physician for local youth soccer programs.

Dr Florez is one of the best providers I have seen since relocating to FL a few years ago. He immediately apologized for the delay. He sat down close to me and was fully present.
