Biography

Hadley Wood, MD, is Vice Chair of Research for the Integrated Surgery Institute, Staff in Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Genitourinary Reconstruction and Professor of Urology, Case-Lerner College of Medicine.

Dr. Wood completed her undergraduate degree at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She earned her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore.

Dr. Wood is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the American Board of Urology, American Urological Association, Society for Women in Urology, Societe Internationale Urologie and Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons.

Dr. Wood serves as the Editor in Chief of Urology and has published over 100 peer reviewed manuscripts. She received the Bruce Hubbard Stewart Award for Humanistic Medicine (2008), Cleveland Clinic Enterprise Outstanding PA Educator of the Year, Department of Urology Teacher of the Year (2018) and an American Urological Association Presidential Citation acknowledging her service to patients born with congenital urological conditions in 2019. She has been invited as distinguished visiting professor at over 25 institutions nationally and internationally. In addition to teaching, Dr. Wood is a powerful patient advocate, serving on the Association for Bladder Exstrophy Community Board and Spina Bifida Association Physician Advisory Council for years.

Her specialty interests include genital and urinary reconstruction with a special focus on adolescents and adults with congenital anomalies of the genitourinary tract. These include: myelomeningocele, hypospadias, bladder exstrophy, Eagle Barrett syndrome, ambiguous genitalia, neurogenic bladder, as well as many others. She also treats acquired urological reconstructive problems, including radiation fistulae, urethral strictures, operative injuries to the bladder and ureters, and traumatic bladder and genital injuries. In addition, she supports a multidisciplinary clinic for adults with spina bifida that occurs approximately every 2-3 months.

Dr. Gillinov is an amazing doctor. Not that he was kind, patient, easy to talk to, humble, and empathetic, but he is an amazing surgeon. He did a miracle with my husband! We will forever be grateful for what he did for us. Dr. Wood was also was very kind and professional. Dr. Wood ensured my husband is safe during the surgery and was involved to prevent any complications. We are very grateful for what she did also! We will continue to return to ensure she is the one completing the treatment for my husband.
