Biography

Jashvantlal Thakkar, MD, is an interventional cardiologist in the Section of Regional Cardiovascular Medicine of The Tomsich Family Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients at Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital and Marymount Medical Building.

Specialty Interests: Cardiac catheterization, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, coronary angiography and angioplasty, pacemaker and intra-aortic balloon insertions, endomyocardial biopsy, HIS bundle studies, exercise testing, Holter monitoring, two-dimensional and Doppler echocardiography, EKG interpretation, cardiac critical care management

Experience: Dr. Thakkar has more than 30 years’ experience in conducting and interpreting invasive and noninvasive tests to assess patients’ cardiac health and develop effective treatment plans. He has performed more than 25,000 cardiac catheterizations and more than 4,000 cardiac interventions over the course of his career.

Dr. Thakkar is board certified in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology.

Education: Dr. Thakkar earned his medical degree from Gujarat University B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad, India. He completed an internal medicine residency at Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, before relocating to the United States. He completed his training with a residency at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital of Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, Hines, Ill. 

Prior to joining the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2024 Dr. Thakkar was in private practice in Charleston, W. Va.

Leisure Activities: In his leisure time Dr. Thakkar enjoys playing golf and watching sports on TV.
