Dr. Cummings is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology, and she is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society.

Education: Dr. Cummings is a graduate of the Northeast Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Rootstown, Ohio. She completed her internal medicine internship and residency with Summa Health System, Akron, Ohio, followed by a cardiovascular disease fellowship with The MetroHealth System, Case Western Reserve University College of Medicine, Cleveland, where she was selected chief fellow in her final year. She pursued her subspecialty training as an electrophysiology fellow at Cleveland Clinic where she again served as chief fellow in her final year of training. After her fellowship, Dr. Cummings remained at Cleveland Clinic for two years as director of Electrophysiology Research and the AF Innovation Center Preclinical Research Facility.
Before she joined the Mercy Hospital medical staff in 2015, Dr. Cummings was an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Toledo Medical Center, Medical College of Ohio.
Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Cummings’ primary research interests are esophageal complications of ablation for AF, cryoablation for AF and the newest heart rhythm monitoring technology. Since 2000, she has coauthored more than 60 research papers published in leading medical journals and 10 cardiology textbook chapters on arrhythmia and its treatment.
Dr. Cummings has been a frequent speaker at local, regional, national and international meetings, presenting research abstracts and lectures to prestigious organizations such as the World Congress on Cardiac Pacing & Electrophysiology in Rome, the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society.

One of the reasons I love electrophysiology so much is because of the many opportunities it presents to help people live better, longer, healthier lives. This can be as simple as helping reassure a patient with an irregular heart beat or as serious as preventing sudden cardiac death.”
Leisure Activities: Outside of work, Dr. Cummings is a busy mom and an artist, and she also enjoys photography.
