Biography
Jennifer Lucas, MD, MHCM, is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon. She was appointed to the Staff of Cleveland Clinic in 2010. Dr. Lucas is currently the Quality Improvement Officer for the Dermatology and Plastic Surgery Institute and Wellness Section Head and has served in numerous enterprise roles, including Associate Director in Regional Hospital Administration with a focus on quality and patient safety.
Dr. Lucas received her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University (Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine), where she graduated valedictorian. She completed both her residency in dermatology and a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. During residency, Dr. Lucas served as chief resident and House Staff Association president. Dr. Lucas also completed a fellowship in Quality and Patient Safety at the Cleveland Clinic. She most recently received her Master's in Health Care Management from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
She has specialty interests in the management of skin cancers, Mohs micrographic surgery, cosmetic dermatology and lasers, and residency and fellowship education, receiving teacher of the year numerous times. Dr. Lucas has a strong interest in quality, patient safety, wellness and burnout, and patient experience.
Dr. Lucas is active in many leadership roles at both the local and national level. She is currently the President of the Women’s Dermatologic Society and serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the American Academy of Dermatology. Additionally, she is a member of a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Lucas has authored numerous publications, and she has lectured on many topics including dermatology, dermatologic surgery, board review, leadership topics, and quality and patient safety at the local, national, and international level.
