About Jill Zink

Biography

Jill Zink, MD, is a staff physician in the regional Department of Vascular Surgery, Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital where she is Co-Director of research for the general surgery residency program, medical director of Vascular Access and co-director of the Vein Center. Dr. Zink sees patients and performs procedures at Akron General.

Specialty Interests: Dialysis access, limb salvage, varicose veins, carotid surgery, abdominal aortic aneurysms, peripheral vascular disease, amputations

Experience: Dr. Zink has more than 10 years’ experience in applying endovascular and open surgical techniques to treat a wide range of vascular conditions and diseases. She is board certified in general and vascular surgery and is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. 

Dr. Zink is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery.

Education: Dr. Zink is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She completed her general surgery internship at Akron General and continued her training there with a general surgery residency, concurrently completing a clinical research fellowship in surgery with the Cleveland Clinic Bariatric and Metabolic Institute. Dr. Zink finished her training with a vascular surgery fellowship at East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C.

Dr. Zink was named to the Cleveland Clinic Akron General medical staff in 2014 after completing her vascular surgery fellowship.

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Zink has coauthored research papers published in leading peer-reviewed surgical journals, as well as chapters in clinical reference books for physicians. She frequently presents abstracts and posters at local, regional and national medical meetings and has been a manuscript reviewer for the journal Vascular since 2020. 

Leisure Activities: In her leisure time, Dr. Zink enjoys running, reading, spending time with her husband and daughters and gardening.

    Dr. Zink greeted me warmly, explained the tests I had been given, and the care I have been receiving prior to her visit. She was extremely knowledgeable about past treatments from other doctors. I felt confident she knew what was going on with me medically. She help to make me feel confident about the quality of care I have been receiving. She also relieved many of the concern I had. She took the time to be well-prepared to meet me for the first time. I felt confident when I left the office thanks to her visit.

    Dr. Zink was compassionate and honest and listened to and answered all of my questions. Prior to the office visit, it was evident that she had reviewed test results and my medical records and was interested in doing the right thing for my situation. I would highly recommend her. 5/5
