Biography
Kaleena Chilcote, MD joined the Cleveland Clinic Department of Palliative and Supportive Care at the Taussig Cancer Center in 2021 where she serves as the Director of Psycho-Oncology. Dr. Chilcote, a Michigan native, attended medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. She completed a residency in Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC before completing a dual fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (formerly Psychosomatic Medicine) and Psycho-Oncology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA. She has worked in psycho-oncology for the entirety of her career, previously directing services at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center/Hillman Cancer Center and the West Virginia University Cancer Institute before returning to her Midwest roots.
Dr. Chilcote is active in the field of academic psycho-oncology where she serves on numerous committees and boards, as a frequent speaker, and in leadership roles with national organizations like the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and the American Psychosocial Oncology Society. She has written multiple book chapters, guidelines, and educational materials in the field. She has become increasingly interested in helping patients who have gained weight during their cancer treatment, and in 2013 became a Diplomat of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She is also dually board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
As an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, she has a particular interest in medical education and is active in the clinical education of trainees for multiple residencies and fellowships within the institution. She has received multiple teaching awards for these endeavors and is currently pursuing a Master of Education in Health Professions Education.

Dr Chilcote and her nurse coordinator, Pam Gamier, are both wonderful!! The office staff is kind, courteous and very efficient. They have been great with my treatment plan, and it''s made a big difference for me. I would wholeheartedly recommend them.

Dr. Chilcote is AMAZING!! Attentive, prepared, knowledgeable, engaging, intelligent, caring, willing to point out issues and offer suggestions. She is always up to speed on my medical issues and doctor's appointments. Engaging and friendly but willing to call me on my crap! We need more like Dr. Chilcote!!! I recommend her and I do t do that easily b/c I used to work in mental health/addiction and I only knew a couple decent psychiatrists in my 30 years in the field. Dr. C is a KEEPER!!
