About Kamal Riad

Biography

Kamal S. Riad, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Section of Clinical Cardiology and a Fellow of The American College of Cardiology and The American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. Prior to joining The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, he was in private practice in the northeast Ohio area.

A native of Egypt, Dr. Riad earned his medical degree from Cairo University School of Medicine. He served a residency in Internal Medicine at Cairo University Hospitals, followed by a Cardiology fellowship at the National Heart Institute in Egypt. After completing his training he worked as an Assistant Professor on the National Heart Institute staff for 6 years before immigrating to the United States where he served a second internship, residency and cardiology fellowships, including a course in nuclear medicine, all at The St. Louis University Health Sciences Center between 1995 and 2001 when he graduated.

Dr. Riad is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. He has a special interest in Clinical Cardiology specifically valvular heart disease, ischemic heart disease and arrhythmias in particular atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardias. Dr. Riad is sub-specialized in diagnostic non-invasive cardiac imaging including echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT and has earned a Level 2 certification from the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.
