About Laura Hancock

Biography

Dr. Hancock is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist in the Mellen Center for Multiple Sclerosis at the Cleveland Clinic. She is a clinician, educator, and researcher with expertise in Multiple Sclerosis. Her research focuses mainly on various aspects of cognitive and emotional functioning in people living with MS (PwMS). Current projects include further investigating cognition in aging PwMS, investigating cognitive phenotypes in PwMS, and exploring factors that differentiate older PwMS from older people with Alzheimer’s disease. She is also leading an international working group to establish consensus diagnostic criteria for cognitive impairment in MS.

She earned her doctorate degree at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and completed her pre-doctoral internship at Rush University Medical Center. She then completed postdoctoral training in clinical neuropsychology at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She began her career at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine before coming to the Cleveland Clinic.
