Biography:

Dr. Hakim is an internationally recognized leader in the area of Men's Health, Sexual medicine and surgery and Andrology. Dr. Hakim earned his undergraduate and Master's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York, and received his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn (SUNY Downstate Medical Center). His postgraduate training includes residencies in surgery and urology and a chief residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He also completed his post-graduate fellowship in sexual medicine, infertility, andrology, and microsurgery at Boston University School of Medicine, in Massachusetts. Dr. Hakim served as Chairman of the Department of Urology at CCF Florida for many years and has held multiple academic appointments, including Clinical Associate Professor Surgery (Urology) at the Florida International University (FIU) School of Medicine in Miami, Florida, St. Georges University and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Hakim has given lectures and hosted advanced surgical prosthetic training seminars throughout the world and has served as primary or co-investigator on numerous clinical research trials and has published more than 100 original scientific articles, academic book chapters, and abstracts. He has served on the Editorial Boards of numerous academic and peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Sexual Medicine (JSM), the Journal of Men's Health, the Journal of Robotic Surgery and Fertility Today and as a reviewer for Urology, the Journal of Urology, JSM and International Journal of Impotence Research and serves as Chairman of the prestigious Publications Committee of the International Society of Sexual Medicine (ISSM). Dr. Hakim is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology, and a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Urological Association. He is the past president of the Florida Urological Society (FUS), and Past President of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America Foundation (SMSNA-Foundation). Dr. Hakim has served on the Board of Directors of numerous professional societies, including the International Society of Sexual Medicine (ISSM), the SMSNA, the FUS and the Society of Urologic Prosthetic Surgeons (SUPS). He is the author of the best-selling book "The Couple's Disease: Finding a Cure for Your Lost Love Life".
