About Marsha Kay

Biography

Marsha Kay, MD, FAAP, FASGE, FACG, NASPGHAN fellow, is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. She did her residency in pediatrics and her fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at Cleveland Clinic, and she has been on staff at Cleveland Clinic since 1993. She is board-certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology with many clinical interests including therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy, foreign bodies and caustic ingestions, celiac disease, GI bleeding, acid peptic disease, and general pediatric gastroenterology. She has been elected a fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology and the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN). She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has served on numerous committees for the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. She is a Professor of Pediatrics at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. She currently serves as Director of Pediatric Endoscopy and Medical Director of Incident Command for Business Resilience (Cybersecurity) for the Children’s Hospital Institute. She has been listed on multiple occasions in Castle Connolly Top Doctors, Best Doctors in America, Guide to America's Top Physicians, Guide to America's Pediatricians, and Guide to America's Top Gastroenterologists. She has lectured at numerous international, national and regional scientific meetings in various topics on pediatric gastroenterology with an emphasis on pediatric endoscopy. She serves as the director of the NASPGHAN’s hands on endoscopy course at the annual meeting. She is the editor of Wyllie, Hyams, and Kay, editors, "Pediatric Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease," textbook which is currently in its seventh edition, one of the preeminent textbooks in the field of pediatric gastroenterology. She is the primary author and co-author on numerous manuscripts, chapters and review articles. In 2014 she was honored by the American College of Gastroenterology with the ACG Salix leadership training award and attended the University of Pennsylvania Wharton Aresty Institute of Executive Education. In 2024 she was honored by the NASPGHAN with its Master Educator Award at the society's annual meeting.
