Biography

Dr. Ballo is the Vice Chair for Regional Oncology within the department of radiation oncology at Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University and medical training at MD Anderson Cancer Center. In 2006 he became the Medical Director of the MD Anderson Department of Radiation Oncology outreach program where he focused on physician professional development, education, and clinical quality assurance. He became the founding chair of Radiation Oncology for University of Tennessee in 2013 and collaborated with both academic and community-based physicians to grow coordinated clinical, research, and educational programs. He has published over 85 peer-reviewed articles and has expertise in the use of radiation for patients with central nervous system tumors, melanoma, sarcoma, and lymphoma.

    Dr. Ballo gave us the time needed to fully explain my diagnosis and lay out the course of treatment once I consented to beginning radiation along with the start of hormone therapy. He gave me exactly what I needed, clear, no-nonsense answers and a positive, yet realistic overview of my situation.
