Biography
Dr. Hanna is a staff cardiologist in the Section of Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation Medicine in the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He is Director of the Heart Failure Intensive Care Unit and Co-Director of the Amyloid Program. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Hanna performs right and left heart catheterization as well as endomyocardial biopsy.
In addition to office visits, Dr. Hanna also offers scheduled follow up virtual visits to select patients, through the Cleveland Clinic Express Care ® Online app. This platform allows patients to see their physician live, using their smartphone, tablet or computer.
Specialty Interests: Cardiomyopathy, heart failure, heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory assist devices, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac amyloid.
Education and Training: Dr. Hanna is a native of Cleveland and grew up in Pepper Pike, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where he majored in Psychology. He received his Medical Degree from The Ohio State University and went on to do his Internal Medicine training at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he received the Outstanding Medical Resident Teacher Award. He came back to Cleveland to do his Cardiology Fellowship training at Case Western Reserve University, MetroHealth Campus where he was appointed Chief Cardiovascular Fellow. He completed his training with a one year Advanced Fellowship in Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation at the Cleveland Clinic. He was appointed as a staff cardiologist in 2006.

Dr. Hanna is an exceptional physician. He is caring, efficient, engaging, friendly and yet professional. In my opinion, he is one of the best at at Cleveland Clinic and certainly one of the top best I have met. The Nurse that works with him-Danielle, is unequivocally the best. It was great to Visit with Doctor Hana.He always makes me feel like he really cares about my health. He always give me a realistic outlook on what I can expect as my heart disease progresses. Doctor Hana also makes me feel that he is always looking for a new way to make me better.He is always talking about new advancements or new approaches for treatment. The one thing Doctor Hana gives me that the other doctors don't is hope for the future. I am grateful for Doctor Hana's ability to give me hope. Patients, especially heart patients, need hope.
