About Melissa Walt

Biography

Melissa M. Walt, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist at Taussig Cancer Institute at Cleveland Clinic. She provides outpatient individual and group psychotherapy services to adult cancer patients who are struggling with cancer-related mental health issues, as well as those whose mental health issues are impacting their ability to participate in their cancer care. She works in close collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of oncologists, psychiatrists, nurses, nutritionists, and social workers. Dr. Walt draws from cognitive behavioral, mindfulness-based, and meaning-centered frameworks to treat cancer patients. She accepts patients at any stage of the cancer journey including at initial cancer diagnosis, through active treatment, and into survivorship and end of life. Her clinical interests include post-treatment survivorship, mindfulness-based cancer recovery, and disordered sleep during and after cancer. 

Dr. Walt earned a doctorate degree from Adler University in Chicago, IL (2016). She completed a pre-doctoral internship at VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (Las Vegas, NV) and a post-doctoral residency at VA Medical Center (Memphis ,TN).

    It is obvious that Dr. Walt cares about her patients. She has a very calm and caring manner. That makes me feel comfortable when I talk to her.
