Biography
Melissa Aukerman Walther, MD, knows what it means to be an advocate for patient health and well-being. The daughter of a family physician in rural western Ohio, Dr. Walther witnessed her father’s passion and tireless commitment as the only physician for many towns in the region. This foundation instilled in her a desire to continue his legacy of excellence and innovation in primary care.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree cum laude from Duke University, Dr. Walther attended Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, where she earned a medical degree with distinction and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She then completed her family medicine residency at University of Washington affiliate Providence Early in her career, Dr. Walther was in a group practice in Seattle, but after moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana, she pursued her passion for caring for the underserved, staffing community health centers and free clinics. Even after returning to a multispecialty group practice, she continued to volunteer with a healthcare center providing free care for low-income adults.
Most recently, Dr. Walther was a family physician with Parkview Physicians Group in Fort Wayne, an organization with nearly 900 providers serving northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. One of the group’s highest rated physicians, she consistently achieved outstanding scores in quality and patient satisfaction and received Parkview Foundation’s Guardian Angel award (2019) for service excellence. She also served as a trusted caregiver for many of her fellow physicians.
With 25 years of experience providing exceptional patient care, Dr. Walther moved to Florida’s Treasure Coast in 2021 to join Cleveland Clinic Indian River Concierge Medicine. As her three adult children pursue careers of their own, she is thrilled to be near family who have been part of the Jensen Beach community for 80 years.
Dr. Walther is deeply invested in delivering patient-centered care and sees concierge medicine as a return to the personal, comprehensive and responsive care of her father’s practice. She is highly experienced in managing the care of older, medically complex patients who require enhanced specialty care coordination. As an avid marathon runner and Ironman triathlete, she also has a special interest in caring for athletes throughout their lives.
