Biography


Dr Michael A. Lauer is an interventional cardiologist with 22 years of experience and is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. 

Dr Lauer was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and from the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Maryland and fellowships in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic where he received the Cardiology Fellows Day Research Award and served as chief interventional fellow.

Prior to his appointment at Cleveland Clinic Mercy he practiced at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo Michigan where he was director of a very active preclinical cardiac device laboratory and angiographic core lab, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City Michigan, and for the past 10 years with Michigan Medical Center in Midland, Michigan which is the hub of a 10 hospital health system where he served as director of the cardiac cath lab and of one of the largest regional STEMI programs in the state.

Dr Lauer’s areas of clinical specialties include complex coronary interventional procedures including left and right ventricular support devices and chronic total occlusions.

Education and Training: Dr Lauer recently received a Master’s of Science in Health Care Administration and Leadership from Saginaw Valley State University. He has been very active in leading and participating in multiple projects focused on quality and process improvement in heart failure, coronary intervention, STEMI care, cardiac arrest and shock within the health systems where he has worked as well at at a state level and through community foundations.

Leisure Activities: Dr Lauer and his wife Kimberle enjoy hiking, biking, traveling and spending time with his three adult children two adult stepchildren and 4 grandchildren.

    It was concerning that zDr. Lauer hadn't even looked at my chart prior to seeing me. He admitted to me that he didn't.This was longest I have ever waited to be seen. 2 hours!

    Dr.Lauer shows more compassion & caring than my former cardiologist. He also performed my second heart cath & it went much smoother with less bruising than my first heart cath with Dr.Said who put me in excruciating pain with extensive bruising.

    Wait time in office was long, but I found out why after meeting with Dr. Lauer. He is very thorough with medical history and future care.
