Biography
Michelle Dawn Inkster, MA, MBA, PhD, MD, is a Staff Gastroenterologist at Cleveland Clinic. She is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. Dr. Inkster was born in Adelaide, Australia.
One of my interests is anal dysplasia. Anal dysplasia and anal cancer have traditionally been something that is just not discussed by the population at large as if it is something shameful. This disease is associated with the human papillomavirus. The majority of people have been exposed to this virus at some time in their life but not everyone is at risk for anal cancer. Those who are at risk are women who have had cervical cancer, persons who have had liver and kidney transplants and others who are immuno suppressed such as patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, for example. Patients who have HIV are at the greatest risk. In collaboration with one of my Colorectal colleagues we have established an anal dysplasia clinic in our Infectious Disease department. My personal professional goal is to work to have screening for anal dysplasia accepted as a routine part of health care for those who are at risk.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Inkster. At the very beginning of our visit, I expressed concerns about a recent test result. She addressed this concern completely. The best thing, for me, about Dr. Inkster is that she looked at my history from several years ago and explained how it related to what was happening to me now. Dr. Inkster showed herself to be knowledgeable and logical. She listened to my husband and me and explained things thoroughly. I never felt rushed. We discussed where to go from here. I felt confident with the plan and reassured that she knew what she was doing.

I have had telemedicine appointments with other doctors before, especially during COVID. Unlike some of these other doctors, Dr. Inkster was very comfortable with this process. This makes a huge difference.
