Biography
Monisha Sudarshan, MD, MPH, FRCSC, is a thoracic surgeon in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. She specializes in treating benign and malignant conditions of the esophagus. Dr. Sudarshan sees patients at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus.
Specialty Interests: Esophageal cancer, paraesophageal and hiatal hernias; esophageal motility disorders, including achalasia; lung cancer; chest wall tumors; thymic tumors; airway tumors (trachea and bronchi); mesothelioma; minimally invasive thoracic surgery, including thoracoscopic, laparoscopic and robotic surgery

Education: Dr. Sudarshan received her medical degree from McGill University Faculty of Medicine, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She completed her general surgery residency at McGill University Health Center from 2010 to 2016 and also earned a Master’s in public health from Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., in 2013. Dr. Sudarshan served her fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. She joined the Cleveland Clinic staff in 2019.
Experience: Cleveland Clinic thoracic surgeons annually perform more than 1,700 thoracic procedures, including treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the esophagus. Cleveland Clinic is a quaternary referral center for patients with complex esophageal disease, and in 2017, Cleveland Clinic thoracic surgeons performed 297 esophageal surgeries. The most common problems treated were achalasia, cancer and paraesophageal hernia.
Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Sudarshan has co-authored papers on surgical outcomes research published in leading medical journals, particularly in relation to surgical treatment for esophageal cancer. She has presented on this research at leading medical meetings in the United States, Canada, Italy and China. She has co-authored chapters in six surgical handbooks and reference works.

Dr. Sudarshan, answered my questions thoroughly and offered to provide me with a referral to someone outside her surgical specialty. She was informed and I believe she was concerned about my use of NSAIDS.

I feel that the doctors are concerned and listen but as of yet the real reason for my main complaint has not been discovered
