Navneet Sharma, MD, is an interventional cardiologist and Vascular Interventionist in the Section of Regional Cardiovascular Medicine of The Tomsich Family Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients at the Richard E. Jacobs Family Health Center and Cleveland Clinic Avon and Fairview hospitals.

Specialty Interests: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD), critical limb ischemia/limb preservation, carotid artery stenting, subclavian stenosis, renal artery stenting and denervation, endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, inferior vena cava filter placement and retrieval, balloon pulmonary angioplasty, coronary artery disease (CAD), atherectomy

Experience: Dr. Sharma is experienced in the diagnosis and minimally invasive (endovascular) treatment of vascular disease of all types, including atherosclerosis of the peripheral, carotid and coronary arteries, abdominal aortic aneurysm and pulmonary embolism.

He is board certified in internal medicine, echocardiography, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology and is a registered physician in vascular interpretation.

Education: Dr. Sharma earned his doctorate of medicine from Louisiana State University, New Orleans. He completed his internal medicine residency at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Hospital, Health Sciences University, New York, where he was chosen to serve as chief resident in his senior year. Dr. Sharma continued with SUNY for a cardiovascular disease residency at Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook, N.Y.

After his residency at Stony Brook, Dr. Sharma accepted a fellowship in interventional cardiology and structural interventions at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, New York. He remained at New York Presbyterian for a fellowship in endovascular intervention and vascular medicine through Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, New York. Dr. Sharma joined the Cleveland Clinic staff in 2022 from New York Presbyterian Hospital where he was an attending physician.

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Sharma has been active in interventional cardiology and endovascular clinical research for more than 10 years and currently is a sub-investigator on trials related to endovascular treatment for heart attack and aortic valve disease.

Dr. Sharma has coauthored more than a dozen research papers published in peer-reviewed journals and three medical textbook chapters. He has made numerous presentations at national medical meetings, including research abstracts and posters.
