About Pelin Batur

Biography

Pelin Batur MD has been at the Cleveland Clinic since 1998; she works in the Department of Subspecialty Care for Women's Health, within the Ob/Gyn Institute.  She is a Professor of Ob/Gyn & Reproductive Biology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Her practice is a referral resource for women with complex hormonal needs. Her areas of expertise include menopause, medically complex contraception (including menstrual migraine and menstrually associated neurologic conditions), osteoporosis, and sexual health. She has been integral to the creation of several Cleveland Clinic programs, including the Sexual Health Program, Complex Contraception Clinic, as well as the Women's Comprehensive Health and Research Center. She also serves as the hormone liaison for multidisciplinary programs in partnership with the Cancer Institute, including the Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer as well the Young Onset Colorectal Cancer Programs.

Dr Batur graduated medical school from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOMED), where she completed the accelerated, 6-year BS/MD track. She completed both her internal medicine residency and subspecialty fellowship training in women’s health at the Cleveland Clinic. The fellowship provided expertise in menopause, breast care, osteoporosis, contraception, hormonal headaches, medical genetics, general gynecology, urology, preventative cardiology and endocrinology. After 15 years of balancing an internal medicine and consultative women’s health practice, she has transitioned to a purely women's health consultative practice, focused on the care of women with medically complex situations, such as after cancer treatment, organ transplant, or in those who carry genetic conditions which increase cancer risk.

She is actively involved in the education of medical trainees and staff physicians, and has held several educational leadership positions throughout her career. She has published well over 100 book chapters, peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, policy statements, and educational curricula on a variety of women’s health topics. She lectures nationally to general medicine, endocrinology and gynecology specialists, and works closely with multiple national and international medical organizations to advance women’s health care and education. On her free time, she enjoys connecting with nature and spending time with loved ones.

Dr. Batur practices at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. To schedule an appointment, please call 216-444-8686. If possible, we recommend obtaining a consult order from your referring clinician to help streamline the scheduling process for your initial consultation.

Dr. Batur really listened and asked great questions to uncover my issues. She also laid out a plan that reassured me I was going to be taken care of. I came out of the appointment very excited to be in her care.

Everything about the experience was excellent. I originally sought Dr. Palin To receive the HRT pellets, and she gave her honest medical opinion that that was not the right thing for me to do. She now has me on a different protocol, had me to change my gynecologist which I did and also to see a new primary care physician. I am very, very happy with her.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Pelin Batur. She is truly a standout when it comes to caring for women going through menopause. From my very first group Zoom visit, she listened so carefully, explained things in a way I could understand, and gave me real hope that I didn't have to just deal with it. Her knowledge about menopause is unmatched, but what impressed me most was how she combined that expertise with kindness and compassion.

Dr Batur was wonderful! She sat and listened to me. I haven't had a provider listen to me in a long time. I am always pressured to be quick bc they have no time, I feel uncomfortable and end up rushing out of an appointment bc it's clear the physician has no time or doesn't want to spend any time listening to me.

Dr. Batur was compassionate, very knowledgeable, and provided me with two treatment options that addressed my primary concerns. We did not have sufficient time to discuss another health concern. This would be fine if follow up appointments were available. However, her next available follow up appointment was 8 months later.
