AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

Primary and revision surgery of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand  (joint replacement, fracture care, arthroscopic rotator cuff and instability), Tendon and ligament repair/reconstruction shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand, and microsurgical peripheral nerve decompression, repair (auto an allograft), and neuroma surgery. 

Biography:

Peter Evans, MD, PhD, came to Cleveland Clinic in 2001 from Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was Chief of the Division of Hand and Upper Extremity, the Division of Sports Medicine, and the Director of Orthopaedic Research. 

After receiving his medical degree from University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Dr. Evans completed a comprehensive surgical internship at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada.

He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency and shoulder and sports medicine fellowship at the University of Toronto. In addition, Dr. Evans received his PhD from the University of Toronto, at The Institute of Medical Sciences, in the School of Graduate Studies. 

Dr. Evans then completed a hand surgery fellowship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, before starting his practice at Johns Hopkins. 

Dr. Evans has authored over 200 publications, book chapters, and books, and continues to present at national and international conferences. He is very active in research, including peripheral nerve regeneration and transplantation, and upper extremity surgical outcomes. 

Dr. Evans is a longtime member of , and has served on numerous committees for, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Association for Surgery of the Hand, the American Society for Peripheral Nerve, and the American Shoulder and Elbow Society.
