Biography
Dr. Patel began his career at the Weston campus in 2007 after completing the James A. Dickson Fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the Cleveland Clinic. His specialty interests include minimally invasive primary hip and knee replacements and complex revision surgery for the treatment of failed total joints. In his tenure at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Patel has developed one of the most respected and productive adult joint replacement centers in Florida. He was recently awarded the Health network Foundation’s Service Excellence Award and served as the Chair for the Arthritis Foundation’s Broward County Arthritis Walk.
Additionally, Dr. Patel is actively involved in the training of tomorrow’s physicians and researchers. He is the Director of the Adult Joint Reconstruction Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida and has a joint appointment as Affiliate Assistant Professor of Clinical Biomedical Science at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. He co-developed the orthopaedic clinical research program at Cleveland Clinic Florida, which now actively trains multiple research fellows each year and has investigated a range of topics, including biomechanics, surgical approach, and blood management. These endeavors have led to numerous publications and presentations at the regional, national, and international level.
Dr. Patel earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 2001. He completed his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency training at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2006 before heading to Cleveland to complete his fellowship training. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS).

While Dr. Patel relieved my concerns about my knee, saying the x-rays showed everything was fine, I wish he could have explained why my knee feels so weird - stretched, like a rubber band.

Dr. Patel is a wonderful doctor. He was very attentive the day after the surgery keeping an eye on my dressing to make sure there was no new blood discharge before he discharged me from the outpatient center on October 3, 2023. He wanted to see me for a follow up to make surethat I had no further complications, no bleeding .
