Biography
Rocio Moran, MD, is a Clinical Geneticist with the Cleveland Clinic's Genomic Medicine Institute. I am board-certified in pediatrics, medical genetics and board eligible in biochemical genetics.
One clinical focus is the identification, evaluation and diagnosis of patients with and at risk for cardiovascular disorders, specifically connective tissue disorders. I have established the first genetics program in Cleveland Clinic's Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute, an international leader in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders which includes genetic evaluations of patients with suspected heritable cardiovascular disease to provide personalized, disease-specific treatment recommendations.
The key to the success of this program is the appreciation of the impact a genetic diagnosis provides physicians, their patients and their families. Through the utilization of such services and my collaboration with Micheala Aldred, PhD in the Genomic Medicine Institute, we have identified a tremendous opportunity to advance the field of cardiovascular genetic medicine by studying populations of patients with common cardiovascular disease, focusing on Familial Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm and Dissection.
Another clinical focus is the evaluation of patients with suspected genetic syndromes. I am also interested in the diagnosis of patients with complex medical problems, children with birth defects and individuals with developmental disabilities in an effort to provide patients and their families a personalized medical treatment plan.
