Biography
Sudha Amarnath, MD is a Radiation Oncologist who has been in practice since 2013. She is Director of Gynecologic and Colorectal Malignancies in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Taussig Cancer Institute at the Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Amarnath received a Bachelor’s in Science degree in Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Science Degree in Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While at MIT, she received the prestigious Robert T. Haslam Cup in Chemical Engineering and membership into Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi Honor Societies. She subsequently received her Doctorate in Medicine degree from the University Of Michigan School Of Medicine where she was a recipient of the Dean’s Merit Scholarship and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year of residency. She is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO, the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO), and the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
Dr. Amarnath specializes in the treatment of gynecologic and colorectal cancers with research interests in female sexual dysfunction and quality of life after pelvic radiation and inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic radiation. In addition to her clinical interests, Dr. Amarnath has a passion for education and received the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology (ARRO) Educator of the Year award in 2014. She serves as the Enterprise Vice Chair of Education for the Cancer Institute, as well as Residency Program Director for the Department of Radiation Oncology. She previously served as Medical Student Clerkship Director and Associate Residency Program Director. Dr. Amarnath is also highly active in cancer programming efforts and is a co-leader of the Gynecologic Oncology Cancer Program and also serves on several committees within the Taussig Cancer Institute that aim to improve the quality of care delivered to cancer patients. She is currently working on the development of leadership and mentorship programs for residents and junior faculty in the Taussig Cancer Institute and OB/GYN Institute. Dr. Amarnath resides in Cleveland, Ohio with her husband and daughter.
