Biography
Suresh Pola MD is the Director of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases at Consultants in Gastroenterology located on Cleveland’s east side. He is licensed in both Ohio and California and is recognized for delivering highly coordinated, patient-centered, multidisciplinary care. Dr. Pola specializes in gastroenterology and has subspecialty training in inflammatory bowel disease (primarily Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis). He is also trained in intestinal ultrasound which is used for the rapid evaluation of inflammatory bowel disease, enabling real-time clinical decision-making while enhancing patient comfort and access to care. Dr. Pola directs a comprehensive, team-based IBD program that connects patients to leading resources across the Cleveland Clinic system. These resources include nutrition services, IBD psychology, and dedicated pharmacy support. This integrated model is designed to improve the care of those suffering from IBD in a patient-centered manner.
Dr. Pola sees patients in Beachwood (Park East) and Mayfield Heights (Hillcrest hospital), expanding access to advanced IBD care for communities across the region while also providing virtual consultations. Born and raised in the Cleveland area, Dr. Pola is proud to serve the community where he grew up. He is fluent in Spanish and committed to delivering compassionate, culturally responsive care to patients from diverse backgrounds. Dr. Pola earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by a Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. He then pursued advanced subspecialty training in inflammatory bowel disease at UC San Diego under the mentorship of William Sandborn, MD.

Dr. Pola listen to me and was general concerned. He didn't push me off to another doctor. He's willing to go deeper to get answers.

Dr. Pola was very caring and thorough throughout my appointment. He wasn't rushed and took a lot of time consulting/examining me. He was also extremely knowledgable.
