Biography
Timothy Gilligan, MD, is a Medical Oncologist at Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus in Cleveland, Ohio. He is board-certified in medical oncology and specializes in cancers of the testicles, bladder, prostate and kidneys. Dr. Gilligan is one of the two section editors for Testis Cancer for UpToDate and chairs the Testis Cancer guideline panel for the National Cooperative Cancer Network. Dr. Gilligan is vice-Chair for Education at the Taussig Cancer Institute and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for the Cleveland Clinic's Graduate Medical Education Council. Previously, he served as co-Director of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Excellence in Healthcare Communication where he taught communication skills, trained others to teach communication skills and provided physician coaching. He is currently President-Elect of the Academy of Communication in Healthcare.
For ten years, Dr. Gilligan served as Program Director of the Cleveland Clinic's Hematology-Oncology Fellowship. He has published numerous original scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, has written dozens of review articles and book chapters and has given dozens of lectures on genitourinary cancers and biomedical ethics. He has written and edited treatment guidelines and cancer-information summaries for national and international organizations, including the National Cancer Institute, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and UpToDate.

Dr Gillian spent time with me and went over the results of my ct scan. Although I was unaware of my cancer also beyond a portion of my lung. The scan showed progress in only 2 months of treatment this made me feel better about my situation

Dr Gilligan is good beyond description. His plan and the team he assembled to care for me, extended my life by years and it appears in fact to be responsible for curing my cancer. In our house, he and Dr Weight are eligible for sainthood!

Dr. Gilligan demonstrates excellence in communicating about my case. His discussions concerning options and risks is clear and on point. Given that my case was peer reviewed/managed, options Dr. Gilligan discussed were portrayed as the best options available and specific to my condition.
