Biography

Tolga Erim, DO is the Florida Division Chair of the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and the Florida Region Director of Endoscopy at the Cleveland Clinic. He holds the Lynda and Marlin Younker Endowed Chair in Developmental Endoscopy.

He is a graduate of Vassar College where he completed his undergraduate education. He continued his medical education at New York College of Osteopathic medicine where he received his medical degree. Dr. Erim carried out his postgraduate medical training first through a traditional osteopathic internship at Palmetto General Hospital. He continued his postgraduate training at Cleveland Clinic Florida with a residency in internal medicine as the Chief Resident of internal medicine. He also completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Cleveland Clinic Florida as well. Dr. Erim ended his postgraduate training with a fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School in advanced therapeutic endoscopy.

Dr. Erim's areas of clinical interests revolve around pioneering and teaching complex endoscopic procedures as well as developing tools and techniques for advanced endoscopic procedures which minimize risk, discomfort, and recovery time for patients. As such, he was part of the first team to perform third space endoscopy/intramural endoscopic surgery procedures, such as POEM, GPOEM, ZPOEM, STER, in South Florida. He devotes his clinical practice exclusively to referrals for complex endoscopic procedures.

Dr. Erim showed so much compassion. I'm very nervous about infection if I have myotomy. He understood and offered an alternative. Which I'm doing. I just can't go through myotomy again.

Dr. Erim was kind and patient. He explained everything as well as talking about the priority of my issue when compared to some other health concerns happening right now. It was comforting to hear that this was not something urgent or emergent. It needs to be done, but other things should come first. I knew the order of importance. It's good when a doctor of his level can get to a layman's level and show you the big picture and where everything fits.

Dr Erim Tolga is the best doctor I have ever received service from for my health. He continually puts my mind at ease, performs the procedure with an expertise that others don't have in his profession. I drive two hours across the state for my appointments because of his excellent care.

My procedure is scheduled for Aug 8 at 6:00 am , almost three months away.Loved talking to Dr. Erim. He took his time explaining the procedure and kept asking me if I have any Questions, which when I did, he answered them completely.
