Biography
Dr. Vaishal Shah is the Center Director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Cleveland Clinic, Neurological Institute, where he leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing compassionate, innovative, and high-quality care to patients of all ages experiencing sleep-related concerns.
Board-certified in Sleep Medicine and Pediatrics, Dr. Shah brings a unique and holistic perspective to sleep care. He earned his medical degree from Smt. N.H.L. Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad, India, and went on to complete a Master of Public Health (MPH) at Cleveland State University. He then pursued pediatric residency and sleep medicine fellowship training at Cleveland Clinic, joining the staff in 2016. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Shah has clinical expertise in the full spectrum of sleep disorders in pediatric and adults, including insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, and circadian rhythm disorders. He leads specialized programs in hypoglossal nerve stimulation (a novel therapy for CPAP-intolerant patients with OSA).
Under his leadership, Cleveland Clinic’s hypoglossal nerve stimulation program has seen significant growth and national recognition as an academic center of excellence. During his tenure, sleep center pediatric sleep and actigraphy programs have become leading programs in northeast Ohio. He is passionate about leading continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and health care delivery. Notable initiatives include leveraging technology, automation, and data — to improve access to sleep care and patient outcomes in sleep medicine.
A committed educator and advocate for innovation, Dr. Shah participates in leadership development programs and contributes to national conferences. His philosophy of care emphasizes teamwork, continuous improvement, and ensuring every patient has access to advanced, personalized sleep care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Shah enjoys traveling, playing pickleball and table tennis, and spending time with his wife and two children in Avon, Ohio.

Dr. Shah Is an excellent doctor and I look forward to my appoint with him. He doesn't rush you and he takes his time to go over any concerns that you may have. If you need to get in touch with Dr. Shah, his office gets back to you the same day. I recommend Dr. Shah to anyone who needs to see a neurologist.
