Biography

Yassar Nabeel, MD, FACP, FACC, is a general cardiologist in the Section of Regional Cardiovascular Medicine of The Tomsich Family Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He is medical director of the Heart Failure Clinic and Cardiac Rehabilitation at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. 

Specialty Interests: Cardiovascular disease, advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperlipidemia

Experience: Dr. Nabeel is experienced in caring for patients with advanced heart failure, including those requiring left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), Impella and other mechanical circulatory support devices, as well as post-heart transplant patients. He has experience in performing cardiac catheterizations, coronary angiography and endomyocardial biopsy. He has performed hundreds of transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs) and interpreted thousands of echocardiograms and cardiac stress tests, including nuclear stress tests and electrocardiograms.
 
Dr. Nabeel is board certified in internal medicine, echocardiography, nuclear cardiography and cardiovascular disease. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians.

Education: Dr. Nabeel earned his medical degree from Khyber Medical College of Peshawar University, Peshawar, Pakistan. He completed his internal medicine residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, N.Y., followed by an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. He finished his specialty training as a cardiovascular medicine fellow at MetroHealth Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland. 

Dr. Nabeel has been on staff at Akron General Hospital since 2019 and joined the Cleveland Clinic medical staff there in 2024.

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Nabeel has coauthored clinical research papers published in peer-reviewed cardiology and cardiac imaging journals. He has presented his research at regional, national and international cardiology scientific meetings.
About Dr. Nabeel: “Early in medical school, I realized that cardiology was the specialty that intrigued and thrilled me the most. As a cardiologist I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients by improving their health, particularly at a time when it is at a critical juncture. I also enjoy the opportunity my field offers to build long-term relationships with my patients.”

Leisure Activities: In his spare time, Dr. Nabeel enjoys spending time with his family. He is an avid hiker and loves to travel and has combined those interests by hiking in many different states and national parks.
