Biography

Zenab Laiq, MD, is a general cardiologist and director of the Cardio-oncology Program in the Section of Regional Cardiovascular Medicine of The Tomsich Family Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. She sees patients at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Physician Office Building.

Experience: Dr. Laiq is experienced in caring for patients with all forms of heart and valve disease in the hospital, critical care and outpatient settings. She has performed more than 500 transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs) and hundreds of cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) studies and interpreted thousands of echocardiograms, cardiac stress tests and nuclear stress tests. She has specialized expertise in caring for patients with cardiovascular disease as a side effect of chemo- and radiation therapy and is the founder and co-director of the cardio-oncology program at Cleveland Clinic Akron General. 

Dr. Laiq is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.

Education: Dr. Laiq earned her medical degree from Khyber Medical College, University of Peshawar, Pakistan. She completed her internal medicine residency at University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Neb., followed by a cardiovascular disease fellowship at University of Minnesota Medical Center, Minneapolis.

Dr. Laiq has been a staff cardiologist at Akron General since 2017 and joined the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2024.

Research, Publications and Speaking:  Dr. Laiq has coauthored research papers and case studies published in peer-reviewed cardiology and imaging journals. She has presented her research at local, regional and national cardiology conferences.

Leisure Activities: Outside of work, Dr. Laiq enjoys spending time with her children and husband. As often as possible, she tries to combine her love for travel with her other two passions, sightseeing and hiking.

    I recently had the pleasure of visiting Dr. Zenab, and I can't express enough how impressed I was with her professionalism and warm demeanor. From the moment I walked into her office, I felt a sense of comfort and ease, which is often hard to find in a medical setting. Dr. Zenab has a remarkable ability to connect with her patients. Even though it was my first visit, she made me feel as if I had known her for years.
